Biotechnology embodies our boundless desire for the better world and healthier life to dare to make dreams into reality.
Recent industrial trend in Korea shows that the market size of the bio-industry has sharply risen nearly as 10 times as much than in 2010 as well as the number of ventures has been tripled during the same period fueled by the implementation of multi frameworks and initiatives in governmental level for decades.
To keep this positive upstream, a nation-wide initiative called ‘Biotechnology Innovation Strategy 2025’ was formulated along with new policies promoting venture start-ups and effective R&D programs. Remaining tasks would be shifting general public’s awareness in social, economical potential of biotechnology.
Korea Research Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology, since its foundation in 1985, has always been at the forefront of Korea’s life science community pioneering innovation and advances in basic research, national research infrastructure and bio-industry. Now we are facing great many new tasks and challenges as biotechnology is recognized as the key solutions to global challenges like infectious diseases, climate change, energy crisis and aging that are directly related to our survival and quality of life while also considered as economic growth engine.
