On July 6th 2018, President Jang Seong Kim was appointed as the 13th President of Korea Research Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology (KRIBB). Official inauguration ceremony was held on July 9th with KRIBB employees in attendance. In his inauguration address, the President Jang Seong Kim emphasized his desire to support the growth of KRIBB as a leading global biotechnology research institute in the bioeconomy era and to solve national and social agendas by convergence research and public infrastructure innovation.
The President Jang Seong Kim received his bachelor’s degree in the study of agricultural biology from Seoul National University in 1989. He earned his master’s degree of biochemistry and doctoral degree of cancer biology from Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST).
From November 1990 to October 2010, he worked at Mogam Biotechnology Research Institute as a researcher and later served as an Associate Director. He has been with KRIBB from 2010, as a principal researcher and as the vice president from 2017.
The President Jang Seong Kim will serve as the President of KRIBB for three years, from July 9th, 2018 to July 8th, 2021
